Additional Information / Handy Tips :

Interesting Fan Clutch Information
A fun clutch / fan assembly is usually located between the engine and the radiator. The fan that is attached to the fan clutch will cool the coolant in the radiator and maintain an acceptable temperature for the engine to perform. When the engine is sufficiently cooled the fan clutch will disengage and thus will save the engine from using less energy required to drive the fan. When the temperature rises the fan clutch will re-engage and again cool the engine. A common symptom of a defective fan clutch is when a vehicle overheats at an idle or if the vehicle is at a standstill in traffic for a long period of time. Most clutches are viscous (Liquid Oil Filled) clutches that operate in conjunction a bi-metallic sensor, similar to the way a thermostat on a vehicle operates.

Chassis # or VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), Engine # & Production Date.
Occasionally a part will require a VIN, engine number or production date. A chassis number or a VIN are the same thing, and are usually found on a sticker/decal on the left/drivers door post - Usually the last six or seven digits are required (A672152) and the item will either fit to or from that number. The engine number is usually stamped onto the engine block, always in a different spot. Having trouble finding your (Mercedes) engine number, please email us or call us with your VIN and we will be happy to look it up. The production date of a vehicle is also found on the drivers door post - some parts fit up to a month/year (-06/1996) and others, from a month and year (07/1996-).
