PLEASE NOTE: Mercedes Benz changed the design of the original fuel filter, part number (163 477 02 01) which is no longer available. If your vehicle has the updated filter (163 477 07 01) already, no additional parts are required only the filter. However, if your vehicle does not have the updated fuel filter, it is highly recommended that you replace the fuel filter when installing a new fuel pump, as the old fuel filter may be contaminated, which would result in damaging your new fuel pump. This updated new style fuel filter kit includes the following parts - the new style 163 477 07 01 fuel filter and three fuel lines - (1) - 163 470 28 64 fuel line, (1) 163 470 29 64 fuel line, and (1) 163 470 37 64 fuel line and a cable tie strap.
FYI - the old style fuel filter was a low volume fuel filter, which resulted in the fuel pump not receiving enough fuel and causing it to malfunction. The new style fuel filter is a high volume filter which supplies a sufficient amount of fuel to the pump, which in turn prevents premature fuel pump failure.
